The Impact of the Covid-19 Epidemic in the World of Engineering Education

The Covid-19 pandemic struck India in January 2020, and it has turned our lives upside down. During the pandemic, some people lost loved ones and others recovered. It has impacted business, the Indian economy, mental health, and employment, among other things. In a pandemic, no one is able to manage the losses, and everyone is simply trying to rescue himself. The impact of the covid epidemic was also seen in the realm of education.

As a result of this situation, every parent wishes to enroll their child in a computer or IT engineering programme. So that their ward does not suffer from pandemic losses such as unemployment in the future, and we can say that this is correct. During the engineering 2020 admissions process, each student wants to be admitted just for computer or IT. Despite the fact that students forego premier institutions in favor of computer engineering. If the pandemic situation remains the same, it appears that mechanical, electrical, chemical, and polymer engineering areas will be closed within the next three years. The parents’ attitude toward the engineering sector has changed.

As we all know, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world” – Nelson Mandela, and it is extremely distressing that the epidemic has had such a negative impact on the education area. The impact of the pandemic on engineering admissions began in 2020. Because of the Covid epidemic, many people have lost their on-the-job occupations and are now confined to their homes; only IT-related employment are safe. Students and parents talked about their interest in engineering fields until 2019 and were admitted into interested engineering fields, however owing to the Covid pandemic, students are mainly thinking about “How can I protect myself from unemployment”. They come to the conclusion that they are only secure in the IT sector, and everyone enters the computer engineering admissions competition. This race, of course, had a significant impact on other engineering sectors.

Finally, I just want to say that while we are suffering from the effects of the Covid epidemic and wish to protect our future, we must keep in mind that though we cannot forecast the future, we will most certainly live it. Every action and decision we make – or don’t make – has repercussions in the future, and you have the capability, technology, and knowledge to direct those repercussions.
